Classificatory Science

Intermediate between the nomological and the descriptive sciences are the classificatory sciences, vast departments of industry which study not merely things existing like the descriptive sciences, nor yet merely what never can be found, like the nomological sciences, but what general kinds of objects are to be found or made under given circumstances.
