abstract = "{The article focuses on professor Robert Talisse's theory of pragmatic democracy. It states that Talisse's theory utilizes Charles Peirce's perfectionist and pluralistic conception of democratic politics. It asks if a perfectionist account of epistemic agency is actually plausible and on if Talisse is correct in positing this close relationship between the democratic community and communities of inquiry. It suggests a rejection of epistemic perfectionism in favor of a pluralistic view of epistemic agency that starts from an account of an agent's particular responsibilities. It also suggests that communities of inquiry are not democratic and democratic governments are not a condition of these communities doing well. It argues that a prior account of civic responsibilities is required.}",
