abstract = "{The article presents some mathematical aspects of the question of reducibility of relations. Throughout his career, philosopher Charles Sanders Peirce devoted much effort to the logic of relations, which represents the logical-mathematical aspect of his doctrine of categories. The article notes that Peirce allowed only the simplest possible compositions of relations, and in fact within his limitations the irreducibility thesis or ternary relations is rather obvious. According to the article, Peirce and his commentators have attempted to visualize the diverse schemes of composition of relations by graphs.}",
